State Lotteries have been run by the Lottery Department of the Government of Kerala since 1967 when private
lotteries were outlawed. The creation of Kerala State Lotteries was the first of its kind in India,
offering lottery players seven weekly lotteries, one per day, and six bumper lotteries.

Winnings must be claimed within 30 days of the draw date and the ticket holder must provide documents which include a claim application form, two passport photographs and a receipt for the prize money. Players are also advised to sign the back of their ticket and to include an address to prevent others from claiming winnings on their behalf.
7. Do I have to pay tax on Kerala Lottery prize winnings?
